			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How do you defend workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation when there are already laws which enable religious denominations to exclude homosexuals from employment or participation in their religious institutions?</p>
<p>A common argument in opposition to legislation prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is that lawsuits would be brought en masse against religious organizations, and that they would be forced to act in contravention of their doctrines.  So when there are laws already assuring those religious institutions that their prerogatives will be protected, then what arguments are left to oppose legislation prohibiting sexual orientation-based discrimination?</p>
<p>I am asking out of genuine curiosity, as I want to better understand the positions of those opposed to such legislation.</p>

<p>You can&#8217;t tell homosexual that they can&#8217;t ask someone out at work because that would be discrimination, right?  But then who is allowed to have work place relationships, heterosexuals or homosexuals?  If a complaint of fraternization is made against a heterosexual couple, I doubt they can cry &#8220;discrimination&#8221;.  Isn&#8217;t it easier for a homosexual couple to cry &#8220;discrimination&#8221;?</p>
